ABOUT

The Serial Killer – Vampire of Rio is a psychological solo performance inspired by a true crime case that examines violence, trauma, and the social conditions that can contribute to extreme human behavior. Directed by Jenn O’Brien and written by award-winning novelist Tiago Santiago, the production avoids sensationalism in favor of a deeply human and reflective approach. In the play, Haysam Ali delivers a powerful dual performance as Brazilian serial killer Marcelo Costa de Andrade and the psychiatrist assigned to analyze him — two opposing voices guiding the audience through a disturbing and thought-provoking narrative about cycles of violence, trauma, morality, and society itself.
